I contend the state ought to do its thing and provide legal rights for all couples who want to be joined together for life. The church should bless unions that it sees fit to bless and they should be called marriages.
I don't know of many evangelicals who want to deny gay couples their legal rights. However most of us don't want to call it marriage because we think that word has religious connotations and we're not ready to see it used in ways that offend us.
Pop songs are not as graceful as they used to be. Performers today haven't gone through the regimen of learning how to write. And of course everyone wants to own copyrights.
There's a very big gulf between the black civil rights leadership in America and the black middle class in America. The black middle class are conservative. Many of those minorities can be persuaded to be members of the Republican Party.
Clearly you need a new team to go out to bat on your behalf to fight for your rights and to report back to you personally and to the leadership of the IFP.
As a vibrant force in civil society women continue to press for their rights equal participation in decision-making and the upholding of the principles of the revolution by the highest levels of leadership in Egypt.
Most people who are selling their mineral rights this is a once-in-a-lifetime transaction. The people who are buying the landmen who are coming in do it every day. So there's a little inequity there about knowledge.
I do believe states' rights was a sound doctrine that got hijacked by some unsavory customers for a while - like 150 years or so. I'm professionally obliged to believe that knowledge is better than ignorance but some kinds of forgetting are OK with me.
And most importantly perhaps children can learn about their rights share their knowledge with the children of other nations identify problems with them and establish how they might work together to address them.
When it came to political power blacks need not apply. Add to this steaming stew the growing tensions over the Vietnam War and the movement for civil rights and you had plenty of elements to fire the imagination of a novice journalist.
Anyone who said he wasn't afraid during the civil rights movement was either a liar or without imagination. I was scared all the time. My hands didn't shake but inside I was shaking.
The Chinese art world does not exist. In a society that restricts individual freedoms and violates human rights anything that calls itself creative or independent is a pretence. It is impossible for a totalitarian society to create anything with passion and imagination.
I'm a vegetarian and very much active in regards to how I feel about animal rights and protecting animals and giving animals a voice. But at the same time I appreciate and respect other people's decisions to eat meat. The only thing that I hope is that people are educated that they're aware that they're living a conscious lifestyle.
You have to have hope. It's irresponsible to give false hope which I think a lot of playwrights are guilty of. But I also think it's irresponsible to simply be a nihilist which quite a lot of playwrights especially playwrights younger than me have become guilty of.
I do protect human rights and I hope I shall always be looked up as a champion of human rights.
A kid in an abusive home has far fewer rights than any POW. There is no Geneva Convention for kids.
There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights.
