Freedom is the right to one's dignity as a man.

When we lose the right to be different we lose the privilege to be free.

I believe in freedom of speech but I believe we should also have the right to comment on freedom of speech.

May we think of freedom not as the right to do as we please but as the opportunity to do what is right.

Is freedom anything else than the right to live as we wish? Nothing else.

I did a lot of things that I regretted and I certainly paid for my mistakes. You have to go and ask for forgiveness and it wasn't until I really started doing good and doing right by other people as well as myself that I really started to feel that guilt go away. So I don't have a problem going to sleep at night.

Forgiveness is not a feeling - it's a decision we make because we want to do what's right before God. It's a quality decision that won't be easy and it may take time to get through the process depending on the severity of the offense.

I do not bring forgiveness with me nor forgetfulness. The only ones who can forgive are dead the living have no right to forget.

Food is the moral right of all who are born into this world.

When I said a few weeks ago that our people would eat cooking oil and olives if necessary I didn't mean that there really would be only oil and olives. What I meant was that our people have the necessary patience to endure the current difficult situation. Palestinians would rather do without certain food items than their national rights.

I remember that at the beginning of the month the kind of menus my mom and father would prepare for us would have fish chicken. But at the end of the month - because my father would be waiting for paycheck - the refrigerator would get empty. I remember that without a lot of food left some of the best meals happened right there.

I'd like to have the first restaurant that can deliver incredible quality food to your table at your house at any time-right where you live.

It was very clear to me in 1965 in Mississippi that as a lawyer I could get people into schools desegregate the schools but if they were kicked off the plantations - and if they didn't have food didn't have jobs didn't have health care didn't have the means to exercise those civil rights we were not going to have success.

My perfect day is constantly changing. Right now it would be to lie around in a hammock reading with a portable phone and a table of food next to it. I would spend all day there. And that's all that I can possibly come up with on the spur of the moment.

Somewhere near you somebody right now is trying to help the indigent and poor - providing food shelter clothing or simple kindness.

There's the issue of hunger and there's an issue of if you're going to cut out food programs. We should be focusing on healthy food. Right now fruits and vegetables are very expensive. So what can we do on the policy side to bring the cost of fruits and vegetables down?

My Food Network shows 'Emeril Live' and 'Essence of Emeril ' are not in production right now but I wouldn't say that I'm necessarily leaving Food Network. I have a lot of television still in me. I enjoy teaching people so it's just a matter of time before I do something new.
