Our ignorance of history causes us to slander our own times.

Sometimes - history needs a push.

It is in the admission of ignorance and the admission of uncertainty that there is a hope for the continuous motion of human beings in some direction that doesn't get confined permanently blocked as it has so many times before in various periods in the history of man.

In my view far from deserving condemnation for their courageous reporting the New York Times the Washington Post and other newspapers should be commended for serving the purpose that the Founding Fathers saw so clearly.

Swedes are such a civilised perfect society - at least on the surface. There's a great safety net a huge middle class free education free health care. People are very polite they wait their turn. They're not too loud they're not too quiet but sometimes it's a little too perfect.

We immigrants can sometimes sound a little hysterical about this because we come from places that have tried this and we know where it leads. Anybody who's lived in countries with socialized health care knows that it becomes the dominant political issue.

I understand that in these difficult economic times the potential for any additional expense is not welcomed by American businesses. But in the long run the health insurance reform law promises to cut health-care costs for U.S. businesses not expand them.

Look if you have somebody who doesn't have health insurance who doesn't have a doctor or dentist and in order to deal with their cold or flu or dental problem they go to an emergency room - in general that visit will cost ten times more than walking into a community health center.

I should do something about the cigarettes I quite accept that it's bad for your health but you know a moderate tipple is positively beneficial and at certain times absolutely essential.

The bottom line is that the human body is complex and subtle and oversimplifying - as common sense sometimes impels us to do - can be hazardous to your health.

Spiritually good people pure in heart who long for the Blessed Sacrament but cannot receive at the time can receive spiritually... even a hundred times a day in sickness and in health with immeasurable grace and profit.

Today the demands are for even higher standards in the quality of care for greater flexibility and convenience in treatment times and for more prevention through screening and health checks.

As musicians and artists it's important we have an environment - and I guess when I say environment I really mean the industry that really nurtures these gifts. Oftentimes the machine can overlook the need to take care of the people who produce the sounds that have a lot to do with the health and well-being of society.

Medicine sometimes snatches away health sometimes gives it.

Did you know that nearly one in three children live apart from their biological dads? Those kids are two to three times more likely to grow up in poverty to suffer in school and to have health and behavioral problems.

Healing is a matter of time but it is sometimes also a matter of opportunity.

'Tis healthy to be sick sometimes.
