My biggest pet peeve are just girls who go to sports bars who have no intention on caring what teams are playing like they're looking for just a night out. That drives me more crazy than anything else. Like don't pretend to be a sports fan.

Through the years I have received my share of recognition for efforts in the fields of sports the arts the struggle for full citizenship for the Negro people labor's rights and the fight for peace.

I was a sports fan but I also went to peace marches.

Even though now I'm pretty popular in my country and tennis is the No. 1 sport and I'm very flattered that the people recognise me and come up and give me compliments I'm more a person who likes to have privacy and peace.

Unfortunately the world is what it is now. People don't get along for whatever reason. As professional athletes in a way we're almost ambassadors for peace because sports brings everyone together.

The addiction to sports therefore in a peculiar degree marks an arrested development in man's moral nature.

Airplane travel is nature's way of making you look like your passport photo.

Very much like that and very much a loner do you know and I didn't fit really into sport or all kind of group activities as a kid I couldn't find a niche. And music was not really part of the kind of village curriculum it would you know.

I'm a visual thinker really bad at algebra. There's others that are a pattern thinker. These are the music and math minds. They think in patterns instead of pictures. Then there's another type that's not a visual thinker at all and they're the ones that memorize all of the sports statistics all of the weather statistics.

Honestly I don't listen to nobody else's music but my own. It's kind of like sports to me. You don't see Kobe Bryant at a LeBron James game - he just works on his own game. And that's what I do. I only listen to me so I can criticize and analyze and all those things.

All of the sports have a safety net but boxing is the only sport that has none. So when the fighter is through he is through. While he was fighting his management was very excited for him but now that he is done that management team is moving on.

I'm a filmmaker and I'm proud of the movies I've made. But in the background of my life I was also very involved in the creation of the sport.

The cardinal sin in sports what could really wreck it is not cheating to win which has gone on forever but cheating to lose. That threatens a fundamental aspect of sports' appeal which is their spontaneity. If games are fixed they're no different from movies they're scripted.

By the way movies are like sporting events in that you're as good as the movie you're in. You can sit in a room for 20 years and go do a movie and you can just kill in it and you move to the head of the line again. By the same token you can do five movies a year and if they're dreck it's nothing.

I've had the good fortune to have a much more diverse life than most people would professional sports and television and news and movies.

Making movies was more a reaction to not being chosen for sports. Other kids were out there playing at whatever I was off making something blow up and filming it or making a mould of my sister's head using alginating plaster.

I was a total athlete. I loved sports but when I realized I wasn't going to be a professional athlete I realized I wanted to be in movies.
