When I go into making a movie personally I don't try to bring other pieces of movies with me.

I have personal beliefs and they are sometimes reflected in the movies I make but I also reflect other points of view.

I really love the independent movies and I just think that sometimes when they throw a lot of money into it and a lot of special effects and a lot of stunts that you lose the connection the human connection and I personally love movies that are about the human connection.

All my movies got screwed up because of my personality.

The person that made me want to make movies and the reason I do films is Bruce Lee. He was an incredible actor and he had a lot of charisma. Handsome action you know everything was there. I loved Bruce Lee.

I'm not Michael Moore. I think Michael Moore wants to tell you how to think. He wants to give you answers. I make movies to raise my own personal questions and not to give answers.

There certainly is no secret in that there are plenty of people who don't like plenty of my movies. Each one of my films is personal each one of my films is emotionally autobiographical. And I like directors who do that. With each one of my films I'm exploring one of my own issues and I try to expose myself a little in the film.

I'm not really a morning person.

I'm a morning person because I learned to write my novels while still practicing law. I would get to the office at 6:30 a.m. and write until other people arrived around 9. Now I still do that. I start at 6:30 or 7 and I'll write until 11 then take an hour off then work until about 2 p.m. By then my brain has had enough.

The apex of my civic pride and personal contentment was reached on the bright September morning when I entered the public school.

And that person has multiple cell phones and gets them new every month with new minutes.

You really have to be a morning person if you want to be a teacher.
