Far from creating a new formalism what these can yield is something far transcending surface values since they not only embody form as beauty but also form in which intuitions or ideas or conjectures have taken visible substance.

My main aim has always been to do good quality films with roles that have some substance. With Power and Beauty there were loads of things that I liked about the movie which made me opt for it.

The ideal and the beautiful are identical the ideal corresponds to the idea and beauty to form hence idea and substance are cognate.

It's amazing that you can listen to any song and you can always tell when there's some substance beneath it and when there isn't. Even if it's poetically written and technically brilliant I'd rather hear something that's all over the place but has some soul to it.
