Nobody climbs mountains for scientific reasons. Science is used to raise money for the expeditions but you really climb for the hell of it.

The mountains the forest and the sea render men savage they develop the fierce but yet do not destroy the human.

Men go abroad to wonder at the heights of mountains at the huge waves of the sea at the long courses of the rivers at the vast compass of the ocean at the circular motions of the stars and they pass by themselves without wondering.

The reason for not getting married was that I just didn't have a partner to get married to. Climbing mountains was more attractive to me than marriage or other fun things like that.

I exercise about 40 minutes a day and I'll run one day and do circuit training the next day. I live in an area where there are brilliant hills and mountains so I get a good hill run with my dog. At home I'll do the circuit training with old weights along with pull-ups in the trees and that sort of stuff.

I met a lot of great people in Saudi Arabia and I'd like to see them again. And I'd love to spend more time in the desert and in the mountains. I felt really at home there.

Snowboarding's tough because you've got to go to the mountains. For me I love the skateboard season because I get to hangout at home and still be skating. I don't have to travel to Norway or Japan or these crazy places to be snowboarding.

What I mean by that is that the point of life as I see it is not to write books or scale mountains or sail oceans but to achieve happiness and preferably an unselfish happiness.

If you wait for the perfect moment when all is safe and assured it may never arrive. Mountains will not be climbed races won or lasting happiness achieved.

I know my family and I would always go up to the mountains just for fun. We always skied. Then all of a sudden my brother started snow boarding. Older brother thing I had to do what he was doing. So I started snow boarding.

Where there is the necessary technical skill to move mountains there is no need for the faith that moves mountains.
