As the first Hispanic female governor in history little girls often come up to me in the grocery store or the mall. They look and point and when they get the courage they ask 'Are you Susana?' and they run up and give me a hug.
On the political front of course it's a zero-sum game. If it's all white males holding positions you bring 10 women in then it's 'Women are coming!' Get 10 blacks and it's 'Blacks are coming!' 'Hispanics are coming!' Zero-sum game. The seatmates might change but the chairs don't move. In the economy the number of chairs can actually increase.
No community values entrepreneurship and small business more than the Hispanic community.
I'm really busted up over this and I'm very very sorry to those people in the audience the blacks the Hispanics whites - everyone that was there that took the brunt of that anger and hate and rage and how it came through.
