When you're doing a TV show it's not like you just shoot for six weeks and you're in an editing room with all of your footage. It's like a guitar or a car you have to fine tune things. You stop doing what's not working you work on what is working and you add things that do work.

I love producing. I am loving doing that. I think that is my most natural space in the business. I just love producing or editing and that's where I thrive.

Editing yourself is like an irksome coin toss. You've got to strip yourself of super ego and operate from the id. Maybe I've got my Freud mixed up. It's just hard to trade a beauty shot for the performance with truth and a brightly lit zit.

Film editing is now something almost everyone can do at a simple level and enjoy it but to take it to a higher level requires the same dedication and persistence that any art form does.

In editing it's amazing how you choose the in and out points. What you cut on is everything for creating tension. It's amazing how expanding a shot by five seconds can just ruin the tension.
