Infinite striving to be the best is man's duty it is its own reward. Everything else is in God's hands.

Wit is more necessary than beauty and I think no young woman ugly that has it and no handsome woman agreeable without it.

The real beauty of it - key to my life was playing key chords on a banjo. For somebody else it may be a golf club that mom and dad put in their hands or a baseball or ballet lessons. Real gift to give to me and put it in writing.

The pattern of a newspaperman's life is like the plot of 'Black Beauty.' Sometimes he finds a kind master who gives him a dry stall and an occasional bran mash in the form of a Christmas bonus sometimes he falls into the hands of a mean owner who drives him in spite of spavins and expects him to live on potato peelings.

Sometimes the beauty is easy. Sometimes you don't have to try at all. Sometimes you can hear the wind blow in a handshake. Sometimes there's poetry written right on the bathroom wall.

Old hands soil it seems whatever they caress but they too have their beauty when they are joined in prayer. Young hands were made for caresses and the sheathing of love. It is a pity to make them join too soon.

'Handsome' means many things to many people. If people consider me handsome I feel flattered - and have my parents to thank for it. Realistically it doesn't hurt to be good-looking especially in this business.

I think we're in good hands. There's definitely much more momentum in bringing in good things to help support the show. Everyone's got a good attitude about it and I think that makes all the difference.

The phenomenon of home schooling is a wonderful example of the American can-do attitude. Growing numbers of parents have become disenchanted with government-run public schools. Many parents have simply taken matters into their own hands literally.

There is a brief moment when all there is in a man's mind and soul and spirit is reflected through his eyes his hands his attitude. This is the moment to record.

Back then I didn't have a big organization around me. I was just a kid with a guitar traveling around. My responsibility basically was to the art and I had extra time on my hands. There is no extra time now. There isn't enough time.

I wash my hands of those who imagine chattering to be knowledge silence to be ignorance and affection to be art.

How can you sing of amazing grace and all God's wonders without using your hands?

I mean Buckingham Palace has never hired a professional public relations outfit let alone a Madison Avenue type and they would throw up their hands in horror at the very idea.
