I have enormous respect for Steve Johnson and as I've told him Feed was one of the inspirations for Salon. They were up there before we were. And also for Joey and the Suck people.
The twentieth century has exhibited a barbarism and lack of respect for human life on a massive scale just about unknown before.
I want to establish a wide range and play all kinds of parts. It's that sort of acting career I really respect. I like to turn a sharp left from whatever I've done before because that keeps me awake. That's why I want to be an actor - I don't want to play endless variations on one character.
To live your life well and have respect for what came before or after - there's a strong respect for that in African culture.
Before you I engage myself to serve my country with the devotion and the exemplary that this post demands. I understand responsibilities of the job and as such I give a republican salute to Nicolas Sarkozy who has led France for 5 years and who deserves all of our respect.
I have no confidence issues with the impact or the quality of the music. No one in hip-hop before this point and to this point with all due respect has done this.
I have no problem going on record with this and probably have gone on record with this before there aren't that many people who I respect. There just aren't.
At the time of Polaroid - and I did a couple of other commercials just before I stopped doing that stuff - at that point I was at the level where they respect you and your opinion and all that sort of thing.
Like the average American that I hang out with and like my father before me I raised all my children to respect tools and use them wisely and safely.
I have nothing against respecting people who lived before but we have no responsibility toward them.
Oh there's going to be debate because you're dealing with the Bible and religion is supposed to be separate from state and that to me is already a conflict before it even hits the gay issue.
But I remember the moment when my father died. I wasn't a very committed Catholic beforehand but when that happened it suddenly all felt so obvious: I now believe religion is our attempt to find an explanation for us to feel more protected.
Well right now I'm very fascinated with 1920s Berlin. I mean probably the more interesting thing would be to go to the beginning of civilization or precivilization - like polytheistic times. It would be interesting to see what came before modern religion and culture - what circumstances created the environment or the need for it.
9/11 was a deliberate carefully planned evil act of the long-waged war on the West by Koran-inspired soldiers of Allah around the world. They hated us before George W. Bush was in office. They hated us before Israel existed. And the avengers of the religion of perpetual outrage will keep hating us.
It may be that religion is dead and if it is we had better know it and set ourselves to try to discover other sources of moral strength before it is too late.
If the grandfather of the grandfather of Jesus had known what was hidden within him he would have stood humble and awe-struck before his soul.
It was a good 15 or 20 years before anyone at Rand would be in the same room with me. They didn't want the question raised 'What's your relationship with Daniel Ellsberg?' And not one of them wrote me a letter because they didn't want a letter of theirs to show up in my trash - which the FBI had been going through.
