I had become increasingly concerned in recent years about the lack of civics education in our nation's schools. In recent years the schools have stopped teaching it. And it's unfortunate.

If the education and studies of children were suited to their inclinations and capacities many would be made useful members of society that otherwise would make no figure in it.

All provisions of federal state or local law requiring or permitting discrimination in public education must yield.

Without education we are weaker economically. Without economic power we are weaker in terms of national security. No great military power has ever remained so without great economic power.
